Sea Diamond is a 1956 steel motorsailer from the desk of John Alden, originally built by Abeking and Rasmussen . After a small fire that happened during a refit she was purchased by our client who asked us to provide an interior and some other deck woodwork.
At 92 feet long we were presented with a fairly large tabula rasa. An empty hull looking for an idea. Using different styles we attempted to create different moods from one part of the boat to another. Darker and delicately feminine in the master stateroom to the simpler brighter cherry of the main saloon. The guest cabins retained some original joinerwork and stayed in that quieter mode. Well selected solid wood panels, strong curves and eye pleasing mouldings create a luxe ambiance. Gloss clear varnish throughout was the owners preference.
Sea Diamond was featured in the'Boat International refits’ book of 2006.
